How to clean BIBS pacifiers

Follow these THREE easy steps when cleaning your BIBS pacifiers:

1. Put the pacifiers in a heat proof bowl, pour boiling water over them to cover and leave for 5 minutes.
2. Remove them from the bowl and let them dry on a  clean towel.
3. Use the towel to squeeze any excess water out of the nipple.

TIP: As your baby gets older and over 3 months you can make the process faster and just pour boiling water over them, this method avoids water collecting in the nipple.

Caution! BIBS often receive inquiries from parents who have followed the National Board of Health’s recommendation to cook the pacifier for 5 minutes before first use and daily afterwards. The result is broken pacifiers. DO NOT COOK. They are not meant to be boiled and are therefore destroyed by the high heat. Instead, follow the instructions above, and you are sure to kill the bacteria without compromising the durability of the pacifier.

How often should you clean them?

Premature infants and babies under 3 months old need thorough and frequent cleaning, everytime it has been on the floor and put in boiling water at least once a day.
Over three months old babies you should sterilise as above once a day and rinse the pacifier if it has been on the floor.
